The Veterans Legal Center is dedicated to providing Veterans with the highest quality legal service available. We come from different branches of the military, so our experiences enable us to relate to and understand the needs of our Veterans.

We advise our clients on a wide range of transactional matters, operational issues and on various aspects of dispute resolution. Our lawyers have 30 years of experience, and live by the motto, Leave No Comrade Behind.

Craig Candelore
Colonel, US Army (Ret)
Attorney

After graduating from U.S. Military Academy, West Point in Engineering, Mr. Craig Candelore served five years on active duty as an Army officer. Leaving active duty, Craig graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law, Cum Laude in 1984. After law school, Craig concluded his Masters in Systems Management at the University of Southern California. Craig established his own Family law firm in downtown San Diego where he has served the community ever since. He supervises four attorneys and nine staff.

Dale Santee
Colonel, US Air Force (Ret)
Attorney

Colonel Santee served on active duty as an Air Force Judge Advocate from January 7, 1979 to August 8, 1983. After leaving active duty, he served as a reserve JAG in numerous positions and locations worldwide deploying numerous times. He served as an adjunct instructor at the AF JAG School, Montgomery, AL and the International Institute of Humanitarian Law, San Remo, Italy. Colonel Santee also worked as Deputy Public Defender and Deputy Alternate Public Defender for San Diego County, California.

Paul Abels
California National Guard Reserves, Active Duty
Attorney

Paul Abels Esq. is a Licensed attorney at the Veterans Legal Center, and currently serves in the California Army National Guard as a Field Artillery Automated Tactical Data System Specialist. He is a graduate of Rutgers School of Law in New Jersey. Mr. Abels conducted summer research on military history at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, and interned at U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) in Washington D.C., where he first chaired in federal court. Mr. Abels has dedicated himself to helping his fellow servicemembers, and in doing so, helped found the Veterans Legal Center.
